Residential service team – the flexible, friendly helper in everyday life

Cleaning, repairing, ironing, shopping and much more are now offered to our Offenbach tenants as a service, partly free, partly for a minimal fee. July, 2007 was the starting point for the „Projekt Wohn-Service-Team“ (Residential Service Team Project) (wst), at Nassauische Heimstätte, GOAB and MainArbeit.

Since that time, ten employees from wst are available to the tenants in the Offenbach apartments of Nassauische Heimstätte (around 3,000), to support them in their everyday lives with this extraordinary additional service. Since july 2009 there are also ten employees in Frankfurt for our tenants in Eschersheim, Sossenheim and Zeilsheim.

The measure should also lead to more cleanliness and security in the outside facilities. The project is subsidized by the Federal Ministry for Labor and Social Affairs; Nassauische Heimstätte assumes up to 20 percent of the project costs. MainArbeit GmbH Offenbach and the GOAB (Gemeinnützige Offenbacher Aus bildungs- und Beschäftigungsgesellschaft mbH) (Non-profit Offenbach Training and Employment Association) are executive cooperation partners. It is the political goal of the project to advance labor market opportunities for people over 50, who live in Offenbach and are on welfare.

The employees of wst were trained for four weeks for their new assignment. The two women and eight men are at the „best age“, 52 to 58 years old, and come from the most diverse areas of work – the spectrum ranges from logistics manager, furniture store installer to driver and fitter on a building site all the way to secretary. In this way, the best people are qualified to reach out to the older Nassauische Heimstätte tenants and other tenants limited in their mobility, but their services are meant for all. They help with small repairs or television connections and other equipment free of charge. The home service is super in terms of vacation: plant care and postal collection for only one euro a day (free of charge for the elderly, sick and disabled with significant mobility limitation). But shopping services or shirt ironing is also offered for only 1.50 euros a piece. Classic cleaning service is already available for 4,50 euros a half hour. We hope our tenants take advantage of this service in a big away!
