Citizen Alarm System

Citizen Alarm System

Offenbach was the first major German city to introduce the Bürger-Alarm-System (BAS) (Citizen Alarm System); this was done in 2005. The BAS is an information system for prompt, security-relevant communication by telephone to connected households. Citizens and police work together as partners in this model to provide more security in the city.

The system is effective and functions simply in spite of the most modern technology: The contact data of connected participants is saved in a police computer. When there are incoming instructions, warnings or information the police compose a warning and forward this as voice mail to the participating telephones. In this way, the police can quickly provide information, e.g., when there are con artists, burglars or even missing persons they have a greater chance to clear something up.

The collaboration of police prevention and defense with citizen support not only supports the relationship between citizens and police, but also neighborhood relations of citizens to one another. Criminal offenders should be “scared off” by the  “neighborhood network“.

Any Offenbach citizen of age can participate. You can receive more information at the internet site www.offenbach.de, at phone number 069-840004-828 as well as at the town watch.

The Nassauische Heimstätte /Wohnstadt group of companies want their tenants to feel safe and well in their apartments and their environment. Therefore, it pays the annual participation fee for their new and current tenants in Offenbach.

The BAS is automatically notified upon termination or change of landlord. If the desire to continue the BAS service continues, the annual amount must be paid by those desiring the service.

Declaration of participation

Important for each notification: Indication of telephone number, since otherwise participation is not possible. Naturally, your data is kept confidential.
