Cooperation with the Aktionsgemeinschaft bewegungsorientierte Sozialarbeit in Langen
In Langener Norden, a higher-than-average number of children and youth live in Nassauische Heimstätte properties. To reduce existing problems and to work against future conflicts, Nassauische Heimstätte has worked for a good three years with the Aktionsgemeinschaft bewegungsorientierte Sozialarbeit e.V. (AGBS). The organization, founded in 1995, deals with the resocialization and education of young people. Its work orientation is preventive and aligned with the principles of work-oriented children and youth work.
In 2004/2005, NH and AGBS implemented a project that aimed at supporting youth in the design of their district and at advancing their integration and identification with their neighborhood, through social group work with youth in this quarter. The project area included 150 apartments in the holdings. Among other things, the children and young people designed their playground, painted a passage between the houses, planted flowers, helped with the organization of a resident festival and made rules for themselves concerning the outdoor facilities and how they wanted to deal with them in the future. A consultation takes place after the conclusion of the project to guarantee the sustainability of the measure.
