Cooperation with Blumenrod meeting place in Limburg

Around 5,000 people live in the Blumenrod section of Limburg, which developed in the ‚70s and is covered with a variety of single family houses and five-story apartment buildings.

Over 20 years ago, the Limburg district office, „Blumenrod Meeting Place“  was opened as a social contact point for people in the quarter. The institution is supported by the city and council of Limburg as well as Caritas and is located in a community center. The range of services has grown increasingly since then. Most of the requests concern school and education, joblessness, social welfare, debts and neighborhood conflicts.

The Blumenrod meeting place offers numerous activities and supports, for example, a toddler group, assistance with homework, a kids‘ group as well as a German course for immigrants.

The Social Management of Nassauische Heimstätte supports the neighborhood meeting place financially in order to further improve the neighborhood for their tenants.

A current project in collaboration with the Blumenrod meeting place is the „Pocket Money Project“, in which young people from the Nassausiche Heimstätte housing estate carry out maintenance and cleaning work in the outdoor facilities of the residential area for payment and under guidance. The project goals are the appreciation of living quality, the animation of the young people to sensible free time employment, which builds up their pocket money and identification with the neighborhood at the same time. The current project participants are three young people between 15 and 17 years of age as well as a tenant working as a team leader, who is responsible for the factual and social support of the young people.

Further projects with Blumenrod resident participation are planned.
